I Googled a slow cooker stew with red wine recipe, last year, and found this one. I made it twice last year and it was a total hit. I added shallots, but left out the peas, since I don’t like peas, but this recipe is and was delicious!!! Making it again this weekend!!

I was a little lite on the meat, used 2 small Idaho potatoes, but some left over frozen veggies I had in the freezer. The wine I added was Dry Sherry, again because it’s what I had. I added a small butternut squash instead of the carrots. I accidently left the slow cooker on high for 8 hours. Despite the accident and substitutions, it is incredible!

This is the most delicious stew I have ever tasted. Question – could I replaced the stewing beef with browned ground beef for a more budget friendly option?
